If you consider yourself a creative, do you find that your primary creative area can be inspired by being creative in another area? Do you like trying new areas of creativity even if it’s not your normal “gifting” so you might even consider yourself “bad” in that arena?
I believe that our art, whether writing or dance choreography, can benefit from art styles that are outside of our go-to creative expression.
Also, as I’m writing this, I’m thinking that it’s pretty incredible that anyone can judge creativity as “good” or “bad.” After all, the beauty of any type of art is that it simply exists, and it’s the viewer who receives a response to it.
So tell me, what’s your “normal” area of creativity and what’s that secondary one that you turn to when you want to express yourself in a different way? #expressyourself #pittsburgh
I’d love to know about your creative outlets!
Procrastinating gets a bad rap…okay okay, so it’s not a great way to get things, or is it? Have you ever noticed that in pursuit of not doing that ONE thing that you end up doing a ton of other good things?
Come on, you know what I mean!
You see, I keep telling myself I’m going to take this novella manuscript (yes, a new one) through another round of edits, and instead of working on that novella manuscript, which is open beside me as I type this, I’ve decided it’s very productive to write this blog post.
There you have it. I need to write the blog post. And well, I need to edit this novella too.
Duh, isn’t that productive? Now I have sweets to bribe myself for my book edits.
Well, because I like in an apartment, and she needs thrice walks per day (if not more). Happy dog, happy home, right?
I live with a dog. Do I even need to explain why this chore is so crucial to our existence…and my mental health? She’s cute, but the furrrrrr.
Just kidding, I didn’t do the dishes, but I stared at them wondering if I should maybe make them the most important thing right now. The thinking counts as something good, even if it didn’t result in action.
Yeah, it’s time to upgrade around here, and that felt super crucial and very productive. After all, I’m not super techy so I have to be choosy.
Have you been in there lately? Well, I mean, in yours. Because I don’t know about you, but my email definitely needed to be sorted, read, and handled. I even unsubscribed from a few store emails!
I’m bribing myself again to get to that editing….
None of these small projects are bad, but they’re definitely keeping me from powering through my edits on my novella. But listen, editing takes all my brain…and suddenly I feel tired. Maybe I’ll go nap.
How do you productively procrastinate?
